Abstract: The article explores the sound design of Broadway performances in New York City. These performances include "Billy Elliot," "Hair," "South Pacific," and "Wicked." Sound designer Paul Arditti, the sound of "Billy Elliot" is mixed on a 128-input DiGiCo D5 to ensure programmability and future-proofing. Sound designers Nevin Steinberg and Sten Severson state that they utilized a high-definition, high-powered system to produce an energetic rock concert.
