Abstract: Abstract: In this article we discuss the effect of Cd on the morphology of eutectic silicon in Al–7Si alloy. It has been found from the results that the Cd segregates towards the inter-dendritic regions and leads to the refinement of eutectic silicon. The possible mechanism involved in refinement of eutectic silicon in Cd treated Al–7Si alloy has been proposed here in. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
