Abstract: The article profiles Pierre Larousse, a founder of a publishing company in Paris, France. In his death at the age of 78, his company published a supplement to its six-volume dictionary-encyclopedia "Larousse du XXe Siècle." Larousse's dream is to teach everyone, thus, he spent a lifetime preparing for his dictionary. He was a son of a hotelkeeper in Toucy. Some of his controversial opinions were directed towards the Roman Catholic Church and Emperor Napoleon III.
