| Abstract: | The article discusses visible light communication (VLC), a method of information transmission which uses high-brightness light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Groups of researchers are trying to increase the data rates of the system, which is also called Li-Fi, by using arrays of LEDs for parallel data transmission or using multiple colors of LEDs. Harald Haas from the University of Edinburgh says that VLC is cheaper than wireless internet (Wi-Fi) and would not use radio-frequency signals. |
