Abstract: The article looks at research by mathematicians Lionel Levine and Katherine Stange published in "American Mathematical Monthly" applying game theory to strategies of diners at a buffet, finding that the best choices are based on the least favourite foods of others instead of one's own favourite. Also included is engineer Shen Hongrui's design for a metre-high tower of salad and Brian Wansink and team's report in "Physiology & Behavior" on the effects of weight and gender on buffet behaviour.
