Abstract: The article discusses the demise of the Xerox 8010 Information System, known as the Xerox Star, by U.S. technology company Xerox PARC. According to the author, the Xerox Star was the first high-powered desktop computer, arguing that prior to its invention in 1977, there was no convenient way for individuals to print from a desktop. Apple Inc.'s interest in the Xerox Star and the cost of innovation which led to its failure is presented.
