Abstract: An apparatus to study the fragmentation of molecular dications following inner shell ionization by electron impact has been built at CNR-IMAI. The fragmentation of the dications is studied via Auger electron–ion–ion coincidence experiments. This coincidence technique has been used to identify N 1s−1v−1→v−3 transitions in the N2 Auger spectrum and to study the fragmentation of CH42+ after C 1s ionization. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
