Abstract: The article presents a study which analyzes and compares two types of implant fixation of human temporomandibular joint (TMJ )using commercial screws and the hypothetic intramedullary fixation. The study uses a three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) model and a computer-aided design (CAD) model of the implanted mandible. Results show the key role of the screw positions in the bone strain distribution.
