Abstract: The article discusses the process in optimizing production in shale formations. It is said that a two-step analysis involving the evaluation of reservoir quality and completion quality provides the information needed for designing optimal shale completions. Approaches for determining hydrocarbon supply and reservoir quality include resistivity measurements and application of the modular formation dynamics tester tool. A mechanical earth model (MEM) is created in quantifying completion quality.
