| Abstract: | Life tables of Moina macrocopa (Straus) cultured at seven food concentrations (FC) (Scenedesmus sp., 1.49--1490 mg wet weight l-1, 104 - 106 cell ml-1) were investigated for animals of the first generation ('nonadapted animals') and for animals of the third generation ('adapted animals') cultivated at these FC. Adapted animals showed a 'trophic preferendum', i.e. a narrow FC-range at which maximal Ro values were observed incomparison with nonadapted animals. In adapted animals, the maximal Ro was 115.3 individual, observed at 20 deg.C and a FC of 74.5 mg wet weight l-1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
