Abstract: The article focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of unified archiving towards the Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles®. It mentions that enterprise content management (ECM) technologies are important for information governance professionals by providing mechanism to comply with electronic content. It states that unified archiving has a significant component in removing the duplicate copies of electronic information inside the storage system. It states that several aspects should be considered in unified archiving related to information governance including data integrity, data compression and data encryption.
