Abstract: The article looks at developments in filtration and air cleaning (FAC) as of 2013 and its future direction. The impact of indoor air quality (IAQ) standards by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) on FAC is explained. According to the author, the importance of indoor contamination control will influence energy, ventilation and sustainability standards. The author adds that building performance protocols will support enhanced FAC strategies.
