| Abstract: | Abstract: Intensification of pool fire will occur under the application of water mist. The phenomenon was discovered in previous studies; however, there has been no unified conclusion for the reason of this phenomenon. Studying mechanisms of the intensification has a very important significance in the engineering application of water mist. According to previous studies, the intensification can be divided into two categories, one is the fire intensification in gas flame; the other is the interaction of water mist with the heated fuel, which lead to the increase of mass loss rate. In this paper, Mechanisms of the second type of fire intensification are studied through theoretical analysis and experiment. Research shows that the primary mechanism of fire intensification by water mist is boil over. [Copyright &y& Elsevier] |
