Highlights: [•] We present a reliable model system to be used as dynamical downscaling for the North Sea. [•] The model system is evaluated by its application to the global IPCC control run 20C3M. [•] A linear bias correction is applied to the forcing data to improve the model results. [•] The HAMSOM regionalization provides a detailed and faithful representation of meso-scale ocean dynamics in the North Sea. [Copyright &y& Elsevier] |
