| Abstract (English): | The digital elevation models for the Cuban lateritic ore bodies are obtained through the use of total stations and global positioning systems. The objective of this investigation is to develop a procedure to implement the 3D laser scanning technology in the mining operations executed in these ore bodies. This includes an evaluation of several options to obtain the DEM using this technology which is mote productive, efficient and accurate. The application of the 3D laser scanning technology resulted in an increased reliability, reduced risks and impact to the environment associated to the total stations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): | Los modelos digitales de elevaciones de los yacimientos lateríticos cubanos se obtienen mediante estaciones totales y sistemas de posicionamiento global. El propósito de este trabajo fue establecer un procedimiento para introducir la tecnología 3D láser escáner en las labores mineras de estos yacimientos. Para ello se evaluaron las posibilidades reales de obtención de los modelos empleando esta tecnología que resulta más productiva, eficiente y precisa.
