Abstract: Electron holography observations were performed on Fe nanoparticles with a mean size of about 50 nm synthesized by gas-phase condensation. Phase maps were obtained which represent the magnetic field both inside and around nanoparticle chains. The results suggest the presence of flux-closure magnetic configurations inside the particles, in agreement with recent micromagnetic calculations. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
