Title: Advanced Control Methods for Combustion.
Authors: Szentennai, Pal1, Lackner, Maximilian2
Source: Chemical Engineering. Aug2014, Vol. 121 Issue 8, p34-39. 6p.
Subjects: Pollutants, Energy consumption, Toxicology of combustion gases, Solid fuel reactors, Light scattering
Abstract: The article discusses the advanced control methods that can lower pollutant emissions and raise energy efficiency in industrial combustion. Topics covered are the difference between classic and advanced control combustion processes, and the distinction among modern combustion processes of gaseous, liquid and solid fuels. Also described are the capabilities of advanced sensors based on light adsorption, light emission and on light scattering. INSET: ADOPTION OF ADVANCED CONTROL TECHNOLOGIES.
