| Abstract: | Defectiveautophagy in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) promotesdisease progression in diverse ways. Here, we demonstrate impairedautophagy flux in primary glial cells derived from CRND8 mice thatoverexpress mutant amyloid precursor protein (APP). Functionalizedsingle-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) restored normal autophagy byreversing abnormal activation of mTOR signaling and deficits in lysosomalproteolysis, thereby facilitating elimination of autophagic substrates. These findings suggest SWNT as a novel neuroprotective approach toAD therapy.
