Abstract: The 2014 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Isamu Akasaki and Hiroshi Amano of Nagoya University, Japan, and Shuji Nakamura of University of California, Santa Barbara, USA for their pioneering work on blue-light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on Gallium Nitride (GaN).
