| Abstract: | The author reflects on the interest of children in collecting and trading toys, prompting the production of many products such as the Beanie Babies stuffed toys, the Garbage Pail Kids trading cards and the Shopkins toys. She cites a study conducted by psychologist Caroline Burk which finds that the desire to collect began as early as three years old. She also discusses the benefits that collection-based play brings to younger children, such as developing some executive functions. |
