| Abstract: | The article describes a case study on hackathons as community-based learning. Topics discussed include the most common elements that characterize hackathons as a computer-programming event and some reasons for the popularity of hackathons. Information is also presented on a hackathon called the Ideas of March conducted by the Computer Science program at California State University (CSU) Monterey Bay every spring since 2012. |
