Abstract: The article discusses the Cultural Fieldwork Initiative (CFI) urban educational program for history teacher preparation in U.S. schools. The author examines the impact of the program on teachers' lesson planning and curriculum design. Emphasis is given to topics such as teacher education at cultural institutions such as museums and historic sites, focusing class assignments on field experiences, and the use of primary sources.
