Abstract: In this article the author responds to call to establish educational standards by arguing for establishing a Platonic benchmark for measuring merits of new developments in teaching on the basis of an approach's ability to constitute personalized, interactive and holistic learning experiences. It also discusses principles which remain relevant as a benchmark for evaluating new pedagogical approaches and identifying to enhance faculty's mission.
