Abstract: The article discusses an effort to focus on writing at Rowell Elementary School in Fresno, California. Topics include professional learning for teachers at the school by the firm WestEd through the Leading with Learning project, the notion of language exploration in relation to the teaching of subject areas, and the idea of authentic writing in science classes. The creation of a culture of shared practice is noted.
