Abstract: The article discusses several activities that impact student progress and achievement in literacy at rural school Girraween Primary School. Topics include the practices teachers engage in to build capacity and establish practices common between classes, Girraween's partnerships with parents and local establishments, and creation of an inquiry unit for year 1 students for Girraween Primary School's Field Day.
