Abstract: The article informs on the paper of Friederike Lüpke which points out how the proponents of translanguaging theory, Li Wei among them, have argued that multilingual practices have often been identified using an external viewpoint. It mentions that the theory is based on‘socially grounded reification processes paying disproportional attention to language as the only semiotic means.
