| Abstract: | The Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME)'s diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategy1 was developed in 2020 under the leadership of Dr Riya E. George and reflects the association's five core values of collaboration, future-focus, excellence, scholarliness and enabling.2 The fundamental principles informing the strategy were to 'embed diversity and inclusivity throughout the organisation, foster a culture that attracts and retains diverse talent and perspectives, while maximising access and participation, both nationally and internationally'.1 In November 2020, I took over from Dr George as ASME's lead for D&I on a temporary basis. First, in order for EDI to be embedded across the whole organisation, suitable D&I awareness training is necessary for all ASME office bearers. [Extracted from the article] |
