Abstract: In the article, the author discusses the important role played by automated materials handlers (AMH) in implementing an effective book return system in libraries by citing their experiences at Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) in South Carolina as example. Topics include how the AMHs enhanced patron engagement and the use of technologies like radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags in libraries.
