Abstract (English): The purpose of the research was to know the training needs in the use of virtual platforms in the face of the COVID-19 contingency in first-time students and teaching staff of technical high schools, in the community of Puerto Vallarta Jalisco (Mexico). The methodology is quantitative, not experimental, descriptive, exploratory, and comparative. The sampling technique is probabilistic, simple random, made up of 70 students and 19 teachers from CONALEP, 100 students and 41 teachers from CECYTEJ. The results showed the need for teacher training in the use of virtual platforms, in the instructional design to plan the classes, as well as in the management of other platforms for videoconference classes. Abstract (Spanish): El propósito de la investigación fue conocer las necesidades de capacitación en el uso de plataformas virtuales ante la contingencia del COVID-19 en los estudiantes de primer ingreso y el personal docente de los bachilleratos técnicos, en la comunidad de Puerto Vallarta Jalisco (México). La metodología es cuantitativa, no experimental, de corte descriptivo, exploratorio, y comparativo. La técnica de muestreo es probabilístico, aleatorio simple integrada por 70 alumnos y 19 docentes del CONALEP, 100 alumnos y 41 docentes del CECYTEJ. Los resultados arrojaron la necesidad de capacitación de docentes en el uso de plataformas virtuales, en el diseño instruccional para planear las clases, así como en el manejo de otras plataformas para las clases por video conferencia.
