Abstract (English): The theoretical and methodological foundations that support the teaching-learning process of the Self Defense subject in the Pedagogy of Physical Activity and Sports career are presented. These fundamentals are pertinent for the support of changes that allow the improvement of student learning and the implementation of didactic strategies to carry out a better motivation of students and increase their active participation in classes based on the improvement of academic performance. Abstract (Spanish): Se presentan los fundamentos teóricos y metodológicos que sustentan el proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje de la asignatura Defensa Personal en la carrera de Pedagogía de la Actividad Física y el Deporte. Estos fundamentos son pertinentes para la sustentación de cambios que permitan el perfeccionamiento del aprendizaje de los estudiantes y la implementación de estrategias didácticas para llevar a cabo una mejor motivación de los estudiantes e incrementar su participación activa en las clases en función de la mejora del rendimiento académico.
