Abstract: The article proposes the Read & Let Read (R&LR) deal as an alternative to transformative agreement (TA) wherein libraries buy subscription-based reader access for learners. It addresses questions related to TA including the benefit of R&LR participation for commercial publishers, R&LR as a status quo sustainer in publishing, advocacy for Diamond Open Access (OA) and Green OA, and effect of R&LR on Green OA and Gold OA, funded authors with OA mandates and copyright transfer agreements.
