Abstract: The article focuses on the intellectual freedom challenges faced by library directors. Topics discussed include the decision by many directors to resign in the face of such challenges, the pressure that David Eckert, former director at the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library (CCJPL), Arkansas, encountered in 2019 when the library invited author Meredith Russo to give a presentation, and role of a strong library policy in overturning the challenge.
