Abstract: The article discuses the author's views on the idea of rote learning and whether it has any place in mathematics. He defines rote learning as deliberately repeating something until it is remembered through force of repetition and contrasts it with learning through understanding. He further concludes that rote learning may has a place in mathematics, but it should not be relied upon as the only way to learn and understand mathematical concepts.
