| Abstract (English): | The objective of this study is to explore the inclusion of human rights in the curriculum of social work degrees in Mexico's universities. Through a mixed quantitative and qualitative methodology, we analyzed the content of the degree program's academic guidelines. The presence of elements that intersect human rights, and explicit reference to these elements in the program description suggest that professional training is based on a view of education as a means to spread a culture of human rights, emancipation, and social transformation. Most of the universities offer a specific human rights course, yet course contents do not have the required components for integrated education in human rights. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): | El objetivo de este trabajo es explorar la inclusión de los derechos humanos en los planes formativos de la carrera de trabajo social en las universidades mexicanas. Mediante una metodología mixta, cuantitativa y cualitativa, analizamos el contenido de las guías académicas de esta titulación. La presencia de elementos transversales a los derechos humanos y la referencia explícita a ellos en la descripción de la titulación sugiere que la formación profesional parte de una visión de la educación como un medio para difundir una cultura de derechos humanos, la emancipación y la transformación social. Sin embargo, pese a que la mayoría de las universidades incluyen alguna asignatura específica de derechos humanos, sus contenidos no se adecuan a los componentes que requiere una perspectiva de educación en derechos humanos integral.
