| Abstract (English): | The Mexican Journal of Educational Research (RMIE) is an arbitrated publication founded in 1996 by the Mexican Council of Educational Research (COMIE). The journal has established itself as a convergence forum in the field of education and educational research, addressing various theoretical and empirical perspectives. Throughout its 27 years of existence, the RMIE has published 28 volumes and 99 issues, adapting its publication dynamics to promote dissemination and critical debate in the discipline. Additionally, the journal is part of various internationally recognized indexes and collections. The article analyzes the importance of scientific journals and their role in the communication of science, as well as the need to return to fundamental questions about research and the purpose of journals. The duration of peer review in the RMIE and the origin of published articles are also analyzed, highlighting the importance of peer review in the academic quality of the journal. Furthermore, collaboration in contributions published in the RMIE is mentioned, emphasizing that collaboration mainly occurs at the institutional and national levels. Finally, the use of technology in the publication of academic journals is discussed, as well as the importance of scientific journals offering conditions for different types of content to be expressed and reused. | Abstract (Spanish): | La Revista Mexicana de Investigación Educativa (RMIE) es una publicación arbitrada fundada en 1996 por el Consejo Mexicano de Investigación Educativa (COMIE). La revista se ha consolidado como un foro de convergencia en el campo de la educación y la investigación educativa, abordando diversas perspectivas teóricas y empíricas. A lo largo de sus 27 años de existencia, la RMIE ha publicado 28 volúmenes y 99 números, adaptando su dinámica de publicación para fomentar la difusión y el debate crítico en la disciplina. Además, la revista forma parte de diversos índices y colecciones reconocidos internacionalmente. El artículo analiza la importancia de las revistas científicas y su papel en la comunicación de la ciencia, así como la necesidad de regresar a las cuestiones fundamentales sobre la investigación y el propósito de las revistas. También se analiza la duración de la revisión por pares en la RMIE y la procedencia de los artículos publicados, destacando la importancia de la revisión por pares en la calidad académica de la revista. Además, se menciona la colaboración en las contribuciones publicadas en la RMIE, resaltando que la colaboración se da principalmente a nivel institucional y nacional.
