| Abstract: | This article discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on language and literacy research and teaching. It highlights the rapid changes in teacher development related to digital literacies and the importance of social emotional learning, student-driven design, and multimodality for English Language Learners. The article also explores the intersections between language, literacies, and pandemic pedagogies, both in face-to-face and digital settings. Two specific contributions are discussed: one focusing on supporting early literacy among Nova Scotians of African descent communities, and another examining the experiences of a teacher in implementing the Ontario Social Studies Curriculum during the pandemic.
