| Abstract: | The article explores the history of pediatric nursing in the U.S. from November 23, 1855 through 2024 and discusses implications for the future. Topics include the earliest children's hospital in the U.S., evolution of the art and science of the care of children, and the introduction of penicillin and sulfa in the 1930s and 1940s leading to improvements in communicable diseases, better survival rates for children afflicted with serious illnesses and childhood chronicle illnesses. |
