Abstract: The author evaluates American writer Flannery O'Connor's fiction and non-fiction which is Catholic, gothic, Southern, and timeless. Topics discussed include O'Connor's personal background, and the author's interaction with professor Jim Tate who regards the book "The Habit of Being" as her best. Also noted are O'Connor's depictions of the Andalusia farm and of tightfisted and self-righteous female landowners, and works that create literature from life rather than from other writers' books.
