Abstract (English): This study addresses the environmental problem of the inadequate management of Used Vegetable Oil (USO) through an educational intervention based on the production of ecological soaps with 40 high school students (16-17 years old) in Guayas, Ecuador. Using a descriptive experimental design, a project-based learning (PBL) methodology was implemented in three stages: theoretical and practical training on the impacts of AVU and cold saponification, application of pre-test/post-test to measure knowledge, and production of soaps with safe protocols. The results showed that 84.5% of the students perceive the recycling of AVU as ‘very important’, 72.4% practice household recycling, and 81% support the use of recycled products in their school. In addition, 1 litre of AVU per student was recycled, preventing the contamination of 1,000 litres of water, and soap was donated to vulnerable communities. Although 56.9% showed willingness to replicate the project, challenges were identified such as limited access to materials (24.1% without full access) and scepticism about the benefits of recycled soap (32.8%). The initiative strengthened environmental awareness, linked scientific knowledge with sustainable practices and demonstrated the potential of school projects as tools for social transformation. This model, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, offers a replicable framework for integrating the circular economy into education, promoting responsible habits in students and communities. Abstract (Spanish): Este estudio aborda el problema ambiental del manejo inadecuado del Aceite Vegetal Usado (AVU) mediante una intervención educativa basada en la elaboración de jabones ecológicos con 40 estudiantes de Tercero de Bachillerato (16-17 años) en Guayas, Ecuador. Utilizando un diseño experimental descriptivo, se implementó una metodología de aprendizaje basado en proyectos (ABP) estructurada en tres etapas: capacitaciones teórico-prácticas sobre los impactos del AVU y la saponificación en frío, aplicación de pre-test/post-test para medir conocimientos, y producción de jabones con protocolos seguros. Los resultados evidenciaron que el 84.5% de los estudiantes percibe el reciclaje de AVU como "muy importante", el 72.4% practica reciclaje doméstico, y el 81% apoya el uso de productos reciclados en su colegio. Además, se logró reciclar 1 litro de AVU por estudiante, evitando la contaminación de 1,000 litros de agua, y se donaron jabones a comunidades vulnerables. Aunque el 56.9% mostró disposición a replicar el proyecto, se identificaron desafíos como el acceso limitado a materiales (24.1% sin acceso total) y escepticismo sobre los beneficios del jabón reciclado (32.8%). La iniciativa fortaleció la conciencia ambiental, vinculó conocimientos científicos con prácticas sostenibles y demostró el potencial de los proyectos escolares como herramientas de transformación social. Este modelo, alineado con los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible, ofrece un marco replicable para integrar la economía circular en la educación, promoviendo hábitos responsables en estudiantes y comunidades. Abstract (Portuguese): Este estudo aborda o problema ambiental do gerenciamento inadequado do óleo vegetal usado (USO) por meio de uma intervenção educacional baseada na produção de sabonetes ecológicos com 40 alunos do ensino médio (16- 17 anos) em Guayas, Equador. Usando um projeto experimental descritivo, uma metodologia de aprendizagem baseada em projetos (PBL) foi implementada em três etapas: treinamento teórico e prático sobre os impactos do AVU e da saponificação a frio, aplicação de pré-teste/pós-teste para medir o conhecimento e produção de sabonetes com protocolos seguros. Os resultados mostraram que 84,5% dos alunos percebem a reciclagem de AVU como “muito importante”, 72,4% praticam a reciclagem doméstica e 81% apoiam o uso de produtos reciclados em sua escola. Além disso, 1 litro de AVU por aluno foi reciclado, evitando a contaminação de 1.000 litros de água, e o sabão foi doado a comunidades vulneráveis. Embora 56,9% tenham se mostrado dispostos a replicar o projeto, foram identificados desafios, como o acesso limitado aos materiais (24,1% sem acesso total) e o ceticismo sobre os benefícios do sabão reciclado (32,8%).
