Abstract (English): In a period that was characterized by the gradual incorporation of a management-oriented approach to school governance, the researcher Justa Ezpeleta brandished what was, according to the authors, a political statement: management should educate (and not only administer). In view of this powerful idea, the purpose of this article is to make a critical analysis of her work in order to elucidate the conceptual, epistemological and empirical resources on which the researcher drew during the 1980s and early 1990s to redirect the focus of school management towards the substantial tasks of educational establishments: teaching and learning.
