| Abstract (English): | The increasing use of social media among preadolescents has been found to impact body satisfaction and lead to the development of dualism between real and virtual identities. A sample of 2378 Italian preadolescents (Mage= 12.02 years, SD= 0.82) was recruited to investigate this issue. The results showed that using filters/apps to alter physical appearance and image-mediated interactions with peers and celebrities/influencers were negatively associated with body satisfaction.
