Abstract: The Coping Inventory for Children and Adolescents during the Pandemic and Lockdown (CICAP-11) is a recently validated, context-specific instrument for assessing task-, emotion-, and avoidance-oriented coping strategies in children and adolescents facing pandemic-related lockdowns. The present study aimed to extend previous findings by testing factor structure, reliability, construct validity, and measurement invariance across sex and age. The participants were Italian parents of 935 children and adolescents (50.6% female) who provided valid responses to the CICAP-11. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the three-factor structure of the CICAP-11, which showed good reliability and construct validity. This three-domain structure of coping strategies showed measurement invariance by sex and age. Overall, the present results support the validity of the CICAP-11 in children and adolescents and its invariance, which is a prerequisite for a systematic investigation of similarities and differences between sex and age.
