Abstract (English): The textbook remains an essential tool in language teaching, providing a structured guide for progressive learning. Although digital technologies have questioned its relevance, this study conducted at the Technology Transfer Center of the Universidad Regional Autónoma de los Andes, evaluated its use in teaching English. Using a mixed and descriptive design, bibliographic analysis and surveys were combined, revealing that textbooks encourage self-regulated and strategic learning, supporting cognitive processes such as analysis and critical thinking. Students and teachers highlighted their usefulness and relevance, concluding that, despite technological innovations, the textbook remains an indispensable resource for strengthening language skills. Abstract (Spanish): El libro de texto sigue siendo una herramienta esencial en la enseñanza de idiomas, proporcionando una guía estructurada para el aprendizaje progresivo. Aunque las tecnologías digitales han cuestionado su relevancia, este estudio realizado en el Centro de Transferencia de Tecnología de la Universidad Regional Autónoma de los Andes, evaluó su uso en la enseñanza del inglés. Mediante un diseño mixto y descriptivo, se combinaron análisis bibliográficos y encuestas, revelando que los libros de texto fomentan el aprendizaje autorregulado y estratégico, apoyando procesos cognitivos como análisis y pensamiento crítico. Los estudiantes y docentes destacaron su utilidad y relevancia, concluyendo que, a pesar de las innovaciones tecnológicas, el libro de texto sigue siendo un recurso indispensable para fortalecer las competencias lingüísticas.
