Abstract: Today's young scientists are growing up in a world where artificial intelligence (AI) plays an unseen but influential role in their daily lives. Whether asking a voice assistant about the planets or using an educational app that adapts to their responses, elementary students interact with AI before they even realize it. This article explores how AI literacy can be integrated into elementary science education, helping students develop essential inquiry skills. Through hands-on activities, students learn how AI detects patterns, why it sometimes makes mistakes, and how to critically evaluate AI-generated information. Grounded in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), these strategies align with core scientific practices such as analyzing data, questioning sources, and drawing evidence-based conclusions. By fostering early AI literacy, educators can inspire young learners to approach AI not as an all-knowing authority, but as a tool to explore, challenge, and better understand the world around them.
