In the article, the author discusses a learning laboratory model focusing on inclusion and student voice as a means to eliminate stigma and strengthen student learning in special education. Also cited are how stigma is deterring special education students from growing academically, emotionally and socially and the efforts by schools to uphold the students' rights to free and appropriate education like adopting a medical model of disability. |
