Abstract: The article investigates the relationship between years of experience in youth tackle football and the frequency and severity of repetitive head impacts (RHIs) among athletes aged 8-12. Using custom-fit instrumented mouthguards, the study recorded RHIs during a season, analyzing data from 56 athletes. The findings indicate that while years of experience do not significantly influence the frequency of RHIs or peak rotational velocity (PRV), there is a small but significant association between experience and peak linear acceleration (PLA), suggesting that more experienced players may experience higher PLA due to more aggressive play. Overall, the results imply that experience does not strongly mitigate the risks associated with RHIs in youth tackle football. [Extracted from the article]
