Abstract: The article examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on physical activity patterns among adults in the United States, utilizing data from the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). It reports an increase in moderate physical activity (MPA) from 236 minutes per week in 2020 to 257 minutes in 2022, while vigorous physical activity (VPA) remained stable at 157 minutes per week. The increase in MPA was more pronounced among men, non-Hispanic White, Black, and Asian respondents, and those with higher educational attainment. Despite these improvements, only 24% of Americans met the 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines, highlighting disparities in physical activity levels across different demographic groups and the need for enhanced resources to promote active lifestyles.
