Abstract (English): The influence of micro-credentials on motivation, commitment, and task completion has been widely studied; however, there was a lack of information on a useful theoretical proposal for developing job skills in higher education graduates. This study addressed the concept of microcredentials through a theoretical framework specializing in Information and Communication Technologies and pursued four main objectives: to identify the appropriate theoretical foundations for proposing a microcredential design, to distinguish this concept from others such as digital badges and open badges, to describe the conceptual, methodological and procedural characteristics that allowed for the design of a theoretical proposal for microcredentials that promote the employability of psychology graduates, and to identify educational contexts where they could be implemented. To this end, the Conceptual Mapping method was used. The findings revealed that Higher Education Institutions faced difficulties in implementing micro-credential and articulating them with the labor market. Although the perception of employers or students were not evaluated, the study highlights that micro-credentials can bridge the gap between educational competencies and labor demands, as they are innovative tools for improving employability. Abstract (Spanish): La influencia de las microcredenciales en la motivación, el compromiso y la finalización de tareas ha sido ampliamente estudiada; sin embargo, existía una falta de información sobre una propuesta teórica útil para desarrollar competencias laborales en egresados de nivel superior. Este estudio abordó el concepto de microcredencial a través de un marco teórico especializado en tecnologías de la información y la comunicación y persiguió cuatro objetivos principales: identificar los fundamentos teóricos adecuados para proponer un diseño de microcredenciales, distinguir este concepto de otros como insignias digitales y open badges, describir las características conceptuales, metodológicas y procedimentales que permitieron diseñar una propuesta teórica de microcredenciales que fomente la empleabilidad de los egresados de psicología, e identificar contextos educativos donde se pudieron implementar. Para ello, se utilizó el método de cartografía conceptual. Los hallazgos revelaron que las instituciones de educación superior enfrentaron dificultades para implementar microcredenciales y articularlas con el mercado laboral. Aunque no se evaluó la percepción de empleadores o estudiantes, el estudio destaca que las microcredenciales pueden cerrar la brecha entre las competencias educativas y las exigencias laborales, al ser herramientas innovadoras para mejorar la empleabilidad.
