| Abstract: | This action research examines the impact of ReadWorks, an online reading platform, on the reading comprehension skills of EFL university students in Saudi Arabia. It investigates how online EFL reading platforms, such as ReadWorks, influence the EFL reading skills of Saudi university students and considers how students' gender may impact the development of these skills through such a platform. The research employs a two-cycle action research approach, allowing for iterative refinement of teaching practices and personalised learning experiences. The findings indicate that ReadWorks helps students significantly improve their reading skills and that students responded positively to the integration of technology into their learning process. Factors such as gender, motivation, and time management influence how the platform impacts the development of students' EFL reading skills. Using action research facilitates understanding how online platforms influence students' reading skills. It helps to highlight challenges and learning opportunities when using these platforms. Thus, offer recommendations for future research to consider a more extended intervention period and incorporate teacher-led sessions alongside digital platforms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
