Abstract: This article addresses the definition and impact of mental health stigma. The author surveys, references, and makes connections to scholarship and research that are applicable and relevant to singers. Mental health stigma in other populations is discussed, as well as vocal injury stigma in singers. The presence of potential barriers and possible solutions is identified.
